Toys Will Be in Desperately Short Supply This Year!

The major stores made their orders for toys for Xmas 2009 in the depths of the recession, they played it safe and were conservative. The recent good news of real growth and from Wall Street plus the very recent announcement that the US has officially exited recession means that there will be drastic toy shortages come Xmas Week. With probable last minute panic buying, so buy early.

Even in this day and age there is a 90 DAY TURNAROUND for Major Orders to Factory and Arrival of Goods in the Stores. Apparently Chinas Toy Manufacturers are complaining of shortage of workers, and losing good workers to the higher paying technology companies.

Amazon seems to be only outlet with full stock (What did they know?)

Judge Orders Bratz Dolls to be Banned

The collective pout on the lips of Jade, Cloe, Yasmin and Sasha is about to become even more pronounced.
STOP PRESS : California judge orders company to stop making Bratz dolls

Ruling sends shockwaves through toy industry as peak holiday shopping time arrives

A judge in California ruled late on Wednesday that the makers of Bratz, the attitude-laden teenage dolls that exposed Barbie as a square, must immediately stop making the hit toy and recall its models from shop shelves in the new year.

The ruling sent shockwaves through toyland as the industry gears up for its busiest time of the year. In June, sales of Bratz in the US reached $3.1bn (£2.1bn) since their launch in 2001. Sales of Barbie, still America's most popular toy, fell by 15% in 2007.

The ruling comes three months after Mattel, the makers of Barbie, won a copyright case in which it argued that the Bratz concept had been developed by one of its designers. A jury agreed that Carter Bryant had come up with the original designs while at Mattel and had taken them to MGA, which launched the Bratz line in 2001. The jury awarded Mattel $10m for copyright infringement and $90m for breach of contract.

Beware however of buying toys that that everyone knows or expect to be in short supply, it is likely that eBayers already have bought stock. Instead look out for the unexpected Xmas hits. How do you this well listen to your kids and their friends, Google of course, ask staff in the Toy Shops what's hot!

Wii to Win Xmas 2008 Battle

Sales figures from industry-tracking website VGChartz shows that more around 336,517 Nintendo Wii consoles have been bought in the last month, compared to about 190,440 Xbox 360 consoles and 88,561 PlayStation 3s.

The release of games such as exercise title Wii Fit and child-friendly Wii Music are thought to have boosted sales of the Nintendo console, which has been credited with introducing a new generation to video gaming.

Sony, is hoping however to win over cash-strapped shoppers with its PlayStation 3 console, which combines high-definition gaming with a Blu-ray DVD player.

According to analysts at Screen Digest, high-definition Blu-ray DVD players are going to be among the best-selling gadgets this Christmas, but many of the cheaper players are in short supply. Shoppers are therefore expected to opt for devices such as the PlayStation 3 which have multiple uses and offer better value for money
